University of Mississippi students selected as Ole Miss Women’s Council Scholars share their thoughts about how the program has touched their lives.

OMWC Scholars are guided by career mentors and given support by sitting members of the Council. Here, UM students discuss their experiences as OMWC Scholars and insights into the opportunities they’ve had throughout their time at Ole Miss.

As they note, the OMWC is so much more than simply a generous scholarship program. The OMWC is “an incredible resource” for future job placement. It provides freshmen who are often far from home with a “support system,” a “sense of community” and “a home.”

As OMWC Scholar Ian Pigg of Clifton, Tennessee, puts it: “These women feed us. They take care of us when we are sick. They uplift us.”
