Meet the Scholars

Elise Alexander

I am Elise Alexander, a senior from Summit, Mississippi. I graduated from North Pike High School. I was a varsity cheerleader and also a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. I was active in the Young Republicans Club, and the Interact Club. I was President of the Beta Club, and Vice President of FCCLA. I volunteered with Beta Club, Compassion International, and the Junior Auxiliary Crown Club. I was, and continue to be very involved with my church. While at Ole Miss, I am majoring in Special Education. Once I earn my degree, I plan to go to graduate school to obtain my masters. I participate in the Baptist Student Union here at Ole Miss, and I am also a member of the Ole Miss chapters of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars and the Gamma Beta Phi Honors Society. I absolutely love being an Ole Miss student and on Ole Miss Women’s Council Scholar.



Adam Cummins

I am a senior at Ole Miss, from Batesville, Mississippi. I am an exercise science major with an interest in physical therapy. I am currently the co-founder and president of Kappa Alpha Sigma. I am active in the Batesville Presbyterian Church, and a college volunteer for the Batesville First United Methodist youth group. I am involved in the Ole Miss Wesley foundation and Ole Miss Baptist Student Union. I am a member of National Society of Collegiate Scholars, Gamma Beta Phi, Alpha Lambda Delta, and Alpha Epsilon Delta honor societies. I plan to become a physical therapist, and am currently applying to Physical Therapy School.



Breanna Faust

My name is Breanna Faust and I am a junior from Water Valley, Mississippi. Because I was fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to shadow two successful radiologists at Baptist Memorial Hospital, I plan to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Radiological Science. I am a current member of Lambda Sigma Honor Society. I enjoy horseback riding and have received awards and recognition for my riding skills through the years. I’m thrilled to be a part of the Ole Miss family!

John Carey Fitzpatrick

John Carey Fitzpatrick

My name is John Carey Fitzpatrick and I am a senior banking and finance major with a minor in chemistry from Hattiesburg, Mississippi. I have really enjoyed my time here at the university meeting new friends and learning new things. I am currently a member of the Sally McDonnell Barksdale Honors College, Phi Kappa Phi, Mortar Board, Interfraternity Council, Order of the Omega, Beta Gamma Sigma, Omicron Delta Kappa, National Society of Collegiate Scholars, American Medical Student Association, Gamma Sigma Alpha, Alpha Epsilon Delta, Kappa Alpha Order. I plan to attend medical school in Jackson, Mississippi after I finish my undergraduate degree.


Jasmine Hannah

My name is Jasmine Hannah. I am a senior from Louisville, Mississippi. I am a social work major and psychology minor. I am a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. I serve on the fundraising and liaison committee for my sorority. I am also a new member of the Student Social Worker Organization at the University of Mississippi. I look forward to the upcoming year.



Hannah Katherine Herrin

My name is Hannah Katherine Herrin. I am a Psychology major and English minor here at the greatest place on earth, Ole Miss. I graduated with high honors from Purvis High School and was one of seven students named by teachers and staff to the Hall of Fame. Community service is an integral part of who I am. I have volunteered with many organizations including Earth Team, S.O.M.E, Association of Retarded Citizens, Salvation Army, Lighthouse Rescue Mission, Lebonheur Children’s Hospital, The Humane Society. While serving as an Earth Team Volunteer, I was Chair of the Cans for Cupboards Food Drive and created Can the Principal! My efforts during these food drives netted 963.5 lbs of food and were a contributing factor in my being named 2010 Mississippi Earth Team Volunteer. At the University of Mississippi, I have been in various organizations including, the Freshman Interest Group, GAMMA, Phi Mu Sorority, Psi Chi (Psychology honors society), and an Ole Miss Women’s Council program. I am very active in Phi Mu and hold positions on the t shirt committee, philanthropy committee, sisterhood chair, chapter development committee, and bid day committee. I have also been named staff appreciation chair. I have also studied abroad in Ireland. After finishing my undergraduate degree, I hope to attend law school here at The University of Mississippi. The Ole Miss Women’s Council’s belief in me made it easier for me to attend the University of Mississippi. I am honored to have been chosen as an Ole Miss Women’s Council Scholar and am very excited to have the opportunity to learn from this extraordinary group of women.

Maggie Hovan

I am Maggie Hovan, from Hattiesburg, Mississippi. I am a sophomore and the recipient of the Marion Mullin Kelly Gordon Council Scholarship and the Fed Ex Council Scholarship. I graduated from Oak Grove High School. My major is Biology and I plan to pursue a degree in medicine. I am also a member of the Sally McDonnell Barksdale Honors College. I am a member of Gamma Beta Phi, Alpha Lambda Delta and National Society of Collegiate Scholars honor Society. I am also a member of Phi Mu Fraternity.


Emily Howland

I am Emily Howland from Oxford, Mississippi. I attended Oxford High School where I was a member of the Beta Club, Anchor Club, Key Club, and participated in Lacrosse, Track, and Softball. I frequently volunteer with St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, Rebel Challenge course, lacrosse camps through Oxford Park Commission, Color My College, and other events sponsored by Campus Recreation. I am head coach of the Oxford Park Commission youth lacrosse team and teach lacrosse to local elementary schools. I am pursing a degree in Accounting and play on the Ole Miss Lacrosse team.



Tyler Jackson

My name is Tyler Jackson and I am a senior from New Albany, Mississippi. I am pursuing a degree in computer science in addition to taking all of the courses required to go to dental school. I enjoy sports and have been a member of the Ole Miss Cheer Squad for four years now. I have been very involved during my time at Ole Miss, participating in organizations such as Lambda Sigma Honors Society, Ole Miss Orientation Leaders, and The Columns Society. I am a tumbling coach in New Albany where I teach everything from beginning level through elite power tumbling. I am extremely appreciative of the great opportunities and support that being an Ole Miss Women’s Council Scholar has provided me.



Bobby Kelly

My name is Bobby Kelly, and I am a senior Psychology and Theatre Arts double major. I am from Madison, Mississippi, and have been a lifelong fan of Ole Miss. I have two little brothers and a baby sister, as well as a yellow lab named Rebel. I am very grateful and blessed to be a part of such a great program that is the Ole Miss Women’s Council. Other than participating in this program, I am involved in many other organizations on and around the Ole Miss campus. I am in the Sally McDonald Barksdale Honors College, and I am a part of the Ole Miss Theatre season, the Ole Miss Senate, Ghostlight Repertory Theatre, and Mississippi: The Dance Company. I also am the philanthropy chair of the Delta Xi chapter of Kappa Sigma and work very closely with More than a Meal. I am proud to call the University of Mississippi my home, and I am so lucky that the Ole Miss Women’s Council has made that possible for me.



Mary Elizabeth Kakales

My name is Mary Elizabeth Kakales, and I am from Memphis, Tennessee. I am a Public Policy Leadership major with minors in Math, Education, and Business. While at Ole Miss, I have become involved with my sorority, the Columns Society, Reformed University Fellowship, and Leap Frog. I have very much enjoyed my time in the Lott Leadership Institute and the Sally McDonnell Barksdale Honors College, and am cherishing every moment I have left at Ole Miss!



Mia Kloth

My name is Mia Kloth and I am a senior from Greenville, Mississippi majoring in Nursing. I am now in my first year of nursing school at UMMC. I attended Washington School. In high school I was involved with the Beta Club, Washington School Drill Team, enjoyed babysitting, and took jazz, tap, and ballet for 8 years. After completing my undergraduate degree, I plan to continue me education in neonatal care. My hope is to stay in Mississippi and provide skilled care to babies born prematurely. I feel so lucky to have been selected as an Ole Miss Women’s Council Scholar.



Marietta Mallory Bridges Lamar

My name is Marietta Mallory Bridges Lamar and I am from Oxford, Mississippi. I am a Public Policy Leadership major. While at Ole Miss, I am pursuing a minor in Intelligence and Security Studies and am Vice President of Chi Omega Sorority. I became a Global Ambassador for international students, and am very much enjoying learning in the Lott Leadership Institute. This summer, I interned with House Committee on Homeland Security in Washington, DC. I am now an intern for the US Attorney’s Office in Oxford. I am looking forward to completing my senior year at Ole Miss.

Jordan Maury

My name is Jordan Maury, and I am from Louisville, Mississippi. I’m a sophomore who has been awarded the Lena Mitchell Marquette Scholarship. I graduated from Louisville High School. I am a Biology (Pre-Med) major with aspirations of studying medicine in Jackson. Not only am I an Ole Miss Women’s Council Scholar, but I am also an active member of IMAGE, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, the Black Student Union, and the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. I regularly participate in the Green Grove Initiative and other community service projects around campus and Oxford. Also, I have found myself participating in a few intramural sports such as basketball and soccer. I am the son of Douglas and Margarett Maury.


Jacob Dylan James Moorhead

I am Jake Moorhead from Water Valley, Mississippi. I am a senior majoring in Mechanical Engineering with an emphasis in manufacturing. I am fortunate to be among the first group of students to study at the Haley Barbour Center for Manufacturing Excellence (CME) at Ole Miss.

As well as being on the Chancellor’s Honor Roll, I am a member of Gamma Beta Phi Honor Society, the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, Alpha Lambda Delta, Sigma Alpha Lambda, Golden Key International Honor Society Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society and the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi. I have served on the CME Committee for Academics and Professionalism and as a CME Mentor Group Leader, and i am a CME Ambassador.

Being an OMWC Scholar has been a tremendous opportunity.  I appreciate the generosity of the donors as well as the wonderful group of ladies that work so hard to make the council the success that it is. The OMWC and Ole Miss will always be a part of who I am.

Olivia Morgan

I’m Olivia Morgan, a sophomore Journalism Major, from Decatur, “Where it’s Greater” Alabama. I received the Margaret Denton Khayat Council Scholarship and the Celia and John O. Emmerich, Jr. Council Scholarship. I enjoy hiking, and I have a passion for travel. My favorite things include crossword puzzles, discount used books, and Fleetwood Mac on vinyl.

Caleb Pracht

I’m Caleb Pracht from Hendersonville, Tennessee. I am a sophomore and the recipient of the Karen Bell Moore Council Scholarship. I graduated from Pope John Paul II High School. I am a double major in Public Policy Leadership and Political Science. I am also a member of the Honors College. I am active on campus in Young Americans for Liberty and Students for Rand Paul, as well as the Mock Trial team. I am a member of, and philanthropy chair, for Chi Psi fraternity. I am passionate about liberty, law and policy, and I hope to attend law school and go on to become a lobbyist.



Emily Richmond

I’m a senior Accounting major, and will pursue my Master’s upon graduation. I’m in the honors college and have completed my thesis. I am currently the Vice President of Beta Alpha Psi, as well as the treasurer of Omicron Delta Kappa. I volunteer with Green Grove and the Humane Society in my spare time.

Hadassah Strong

I am Hadassah Strong from Clarksdale, Mississippi. I am a sophomore and was awarded the Mary Donnelly Haskell Council Scholarship and the Celia Carter Muths Council Scholarship. I graduated from Mississippi School for Math and Science (MSMS). My major is Music Education and my minor is Psychology. I am an active member of Lambda Sigma Honor Society, Ole Miss Women’s Glee, and Black Student Union. I am the daughter of Angela Strong and the late Theodore Strong Sr.



Chloe Sturges

My name is Chloe Sturges and I am a senior from Dallas, Texas. I am studying vocal performance and I hope to one day become a professional opera singer. I fell in love with Ole Miss while visiting in the fall of my senior year of high school. I am so thankful I have been given the opportunity through the Ole Miss Women’s Council to attend such a wonderful school. I am in Women’s Glee, Concert Singers and Opera Workshop through the music department and have also begun a choral internship this fall. I am a member of Delta Gamma sorority, and am enjoying my Ole Miss experience. I cannot wait to see what these last two years have in store!



Ashley Williams

My name is Ashley Williams, and I am a junior from Belden, Mississippi. I attended Tupelo High School. I am a B.S. Biochemistry major and am planning on going to medical school. I work as an undergraduate researcher in Dr. Nathan Hammer’s physical shadowing internship. I travelled to Tanzania, Africa, with Ole Miss Medlife for a medical mission trip in July/August of 2014. In Oxford, I volunteer with Leap Frog and other student volunteer programs around campus. I love Ole Miss and am so thankful to be a part of such a fabulous group of students and leaders in the Ole Miss Women’s Council.



Augusta Williams

My name is Augusta Williams, and I am a senior Marketing and Corporate Relations major from Madison, Mississippi.  My time at Ole Miss has been busy with extra-curricular activities such as serving on the ministry team of Reformed University Fellowship, working with the Student Alumni Council, and as an active member of Chi Omega Sorority. I enjoyed a semester abroad at the University of Edinburgh (Scotland) during my sophomore year. Also that year, I was a member of Lambda Sigma and enjoyed fellowship in Scotland with St. Columba’s Free Church.  I enjoy playing the piano and being outdoors when possible. The Ole Miss Women’s Council and its individual members have been most supportive of me during my years at Ole Miss and for that I will be forever grateful.  I love being an Ole Miss Rebel!



Debra Whitley

I am a senior Integrated Marketing Communications major from Natchez, Mississippi. I am the daughter of Connie Whitley and the late Robert Whitley, Sr. Since enrolling at Ole Miss in the fall of 2012, I have been a member of several organizations, such as Freshman Council, UM Gospel Choir, Student Alumni Council, Gamma Beta Phi Honor Society, Chancellor’s Leadership Class, Black Student Union, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and of course Ole Miss Women’s Council. In the past, I worked as an intern for Ole Miss Athletics’ Marketing and Fan Experience. I am a student of the Sally McDonnell Barksdale Honors College. Attending Ole Miss and being a part of the Ole Miss Women’s Council has significantly impacted my life. I have been granted so many opportunities and met so many amazing people.

Morgan Woodard

I’m Morgan Woodard from Hattiesburg, Mississippi, where I attended Presbyterian Christian High School. I am a sophomore and the recipient of the Lena Mitchell Marquette Scholarship. I’m an Early Entry student within the University Of Mississippi School Of Pharmacy. I’m a member of the Barksdale Honors College, the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, and Kappa Epsilon professional fraternity. I’m also a Capricorn who likes coffee and long walks on the beach.
